Under limited supervision, the Security Officer greets every employee and visitor as they enter the Elevations Credit Union facility, and monitors all access into the building. This role requires someone who is customer centric, and also who possesses strong critical thinking skills. The Security Officer assists with crisis management, which includes but is not limited to, events such as weather related emergencies, associate medical emergencies, security related events, and other happenings as they arise.
Essential Functions include:
-Controls access into the building by verifying credentials and assigning visitor access as required.
-Writes incident reports as required.
-Performs scheduled and random patrols of designated areas throughout the facility to check for any security breaches and/or safety concerns.
-Enforces procedural rules and regulations.
-Monitors the personal safety of staff, visitors, and property.
-Maintains working knowledge of the locations of various departments, buildings, access routes and admitting requirements.
-Operates and monitors security control panels, alarms, and related security equipment to provide area and visitor surveillance.
-Watches for and reports irregularities, such as security breaches, facility and safety hazards, and emergency situations; contacts emergency responders, such as police, fire, and/or ambulance personnel, as required
-Performs First Aid when needed.
-Remains alert for the presence of unauthorized persons and/or security code violators; approaches suspicious persons and/or notifies police as appropriate; may confront and/or detain violators, as required, until police arrive.
-Obtains and maintains CPR/AED/Basic First Aid Certification.
-Provides leadership support to facilities coordinator when needed.
Required Education and Experience:
-High School Diploma/GED Required
-Minimum 1 year experience in a military, law enforcement or security related position required.
-Minimum 1 year experience in a customer service role required.
-Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
-Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
-Ability to interact with individuals from all levels within the organization.
-Maintains composure in high stress situations.
-Must respect confidential information regarding employees, members and visitors.
-Basic PC experience, including MS Office Suite
-Regularly required to talk, walk, stand and hear.
-Frequently required to site and reach with hands and arms.
-Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Work Environment: This job operates in an office setting and routinely uses standard office equipment
Physical Requirements: Sitting frequently, walking frequently, use of hands frequently, hearing constantly, talking frequently, exerting up to 10 lbs of force occasionally and up to 25 lbs of force infrequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: Full time / 40 hours per week: 12:00 pm - 8:00 pm Monday through Friday
