Duties:Summary/Objective:

The VP of Credit Risk Portfolio Management is responsible for managing and providing strategy to the organization’s credit approval, underwriting, (consumer, first mortgage, commercial/business), portfolio risk management and credit policies oversight supported by the use of credit risk analytics.

Essential Functions include:

-Leadership, organization and staffing of the Credit Risk department to ensure effective allocation and deployment of resources to support the achievement of strategic objectives and the business plan.
-Selection, development, and motivation of a highly qualified management team. Grants authorities appropriate for each position.
-Ability to evaluate risk / reward tradeoffs, and proactively assess credit performance under evolving economic conditions.
-Creates appropriate metrics to monitor and analyze credit risk.
-Develops and implements strategies to use in underwriting and loss mitigation.
-Manages the effective functioning and use of the loan underwriting systems.
-Educates loan officers and other member facing positions about the credit union’s credit culture and philosophy.
-Development of reports for risk oversight committee and senior leadership; proven experience in assessing loan performance and credit risk dashboard development.
-Proposes strategies for loan pricing, account management and collection processes.
-Works collaboratively with the Chief Lending Officer, business line leaders and retail leadership on various loan underwriting and risk issues.
-Adheres to all applicable Federal and State laws and regulations governing the Credit Union, including the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA).
Qualifications:Required Education and Experience:

-Bachelor's degree in relevant discipline
-10 + years of progressive relevant industry experience
-10 + years of progressive management experience
-Experience working within a structure and discipline of a large bank or credit union with mature operations
-Excellent communication and technology-related skills, such as analytics performed with Excel and loan processing systems
-Automated decision making, custom scorecards experience, understanding of layered risks

Preferred Skills and Experience:

-Masters degree or MBA preferred
-Commercial or small business underwriting experience
-Efficiencies or continuous improvement experience
-Account Management/Loss Mitigation experience
-FNMA/FHLMC/FHA/VA experience
